Getting started
What is the Ochanti app?
Ochanti is an app built for building contractors. It helps you track your workers, their attendance and pay, material purchases and supplier debt, and the expenses and budget of every site, and it exports PDF reports and invoices ready to share — in Arabic, French or English, straight from your phone.
Does the app need an internet connection?
No. Every core feature — workers, attendance, materials, expenses, reports, alerts, calculators — works fully offline and is stored on your phone. Internet is only needed for the optional cloud features: team accounts, sync across devices, and reading delivery notes from a photo.
Which languages does the app work in?
Arabic (the default), French and English — all three fully translated. Change the language in Settings → Preferences → Language. Numbers always stay in Latin digits (0–9) so figures are easy to read, and you can pick the language of each PDF separately when you export it.
Do I need an account to use the app?
No. The app works completely without an account and without internet. An account is optional and only enables team and supervisor features, plus sync across your devices.
Workers and attendance
How is a daily worker's pay calculated?
Over a Monday-to-Saturday week, paid on Saturday. Amount = days actually worked × daily rate (a half day counts as 0.5), minus the advances and payments you handed over during that week. You will find all of it in the "weekly payroll sheet" inside the Workers tab, and you can export it as a PDF.
What is the difference between a daily and a monthly worker?
Daily: calculated weekly from attendance and paid on Saturday — the most common arrangement on site. Monthly: a fixed salary paid once a month on the date you set, with no weekly amount in the payroll sheet. You choose the type when you add the worker.
How do I record an advance a worker has taken?
Open the worker's page from the workers list, then "Add transaction" and choose "Advance". It is automatically deducted from the "net to pay" in the week it happened, so you never pay it twice. The same dialog also records payments, deductions and bonuses.
Materials and suppliers
Does the app read supplier invoices automatically?
Yes. From the home screen tap "Scan invoice" and the camera opens onto your active project. Photograph the note and the app extracts the supplier, the date and every material with its quantity, unit and price, then shows it all on a review screen where you can correct anything before saving. All the materials are then recorded in one go.
How do I track what I owe my suppliers?
Each supplier has one running balance: your purchases from them minus what you have paid. To settle a debt, open the supplier, select the unpaid items (or "select all") and tap "Paid". And when you type a supplier name, the app suggests the ones already saved and unifies them, so a supplier stays one record with one balance.
How do I know if a material's price has gone up?
The app builds a price history from your own purchases. Tap any material inside your project, or open Tools → Material prices, to see its price history across all your suppliers. Prices are separated by unit so a kilo is never compared with a bag. You also get an automatic alert if the app finds the same material cheaper at a supplier you already deal with.
Money and reports
Can I change the currency?
Yes. The app supports five currencies: Moroccan dirham (MAD), Algerian dinar (DZD), Tunisian dinar (TND), euro (EUR) and US dollar (USD). Change it in Settings → Preferences → Currency and every screen updates immediately. In reports and final totals the figures are shown without a currency symbol, to stay clean and easy to read.
What kinds of documents can the app produce?
Eight PDF types: the project report, the daily report, the weekly payroll sheet, the receipt, the client invoice, the quote, the purchase order and the supplier statement. All of them carry your letterhead from the "business profile", and you choose each file's language — Arabic, French or English — at export. Once generated, tap "Share" to send it via WhatsApp or any other app.
How do I see a project's budget and what is left?
The "Overview" screen inside a project shows a pie chart splitting expenses (workers, materials, other costs) against the budget; tap any slice to see its value and share. The app alerts you at 80% of the budget and again when you exceed it. To see your financial position across all projects at once, open Tools → Debts and receivables.
Tools
How do I calculate concrete or block quantities?
Open Tools → Calculator. Six calculators are ready: concrete, slab, blocks, tiling, paint and steel. Enter the dimensions and the waste percentage and you get the quantities (cement bags, number of blocks, number of tins, number of bars) and an estimated cost including labour. The "Add as material" button logs the result directly into your project.
What is the smart assistant, and what language does it answer in?
It is an assistant you ask about your own project figures — not general information — and it answers from the data recorded in your app. It replies in the language of your question: ask in Arabic and it answers in Arabic, ask in French and it answers in French. And if you ask it to change something, it shows a confirmation card first; nothing is written to your database before you approve it. Open it from Tools, or from the "Assistant" button on the home screen.
How do I find something quickly?
Tap the search icon at the top of the home screen. Search covers your projects, workers, suppliers and materials all at once.
How do I organise my appointments?
Open Tools → Appointments. Add an appointment by type: site visit, client, supplier, inspection, administrative or personal — with time, duration and place, and optionally linked to a project. If two appointments clash, the app flags it as a "conflict to resolve".
Team and sync
What is a team account, and what are supervisors?
If you create an account and sign in, you can create supervisor accounts under it and give each one access to one or more projects that you choose. A supervisor signs in with a simple username and a password generated by the app, which you can share with them on WhatsApp in one tap. Data is synced, so the same projects appear on all your devices, and you get a notification on every important action. A supervisor sees only their own sites: your clients, invoices, appointments and debts stay in your account.
How many supervisors can I add?
The app shows how many seats are used out of those available on the team screen. The number is enough in practice for any contracting business, and the app tells you if you reach it.
Security and your data
How do I lock my data?
In Settings → Security → App lock, turn on a four-digit PIN and/or the biometric lock (fingerprint or face) if your device supports it. After that the app only opens with your code.
Where is my data stored, and is it synced?
Your data is stored on your phone first and works in full without internet. If you sign in with an account, every change syncs to the cloud automatically: anything recorded offline queues up and uploads as soon as the connection returns. You can see the sync status on the "Account" page (tap your photo at the top of the home screen), along with a "Full data upload" button if your projects are not showing on another device.
Can I restore something I deleted?
Deletion inside the app is permanent, which is why you are asked to confirm before any project, worker or supplier is deleted — take your time at that step. If you are signed in, your data is stored in the cloud and available on all your devices. If you run into trouble, write to us at support@ochanti.com.
How do I delete my account and my data?
From the account page (tap your photo at the top of the home screen) choose "Delete account" and type the confirmation word. Your account and all your data are permanently deleted. For details see the account deletion page.
